Cookie Notice
Below you will find a plain description of every cookie category used on this website, the purpose it serves while you browse our brewing guides and tasting notes, and the controls available to you. For wider data questions, see the Privacy Policy.
What Cookies Are
A cookie is nothing more than a short piece of text your browser holds on behalf of a site. It cannot access other files, run programs, or identify you by name unless you have supplied that name yourself. The same applies to the storage keys described below.
Categories Used on This Website
| Category | Typical lifetime | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Operationally required | Session | Handle consent storage, security tokens and basic technical routing. Disabling them prevents the site from remembering that you have already made a choice. |
| Preference storage | Up to 1 year | Hold the settings you pick while browsing — for instance a filter narrowing our archive to a single area of tea and brewing. |
| Anonymous statistics | Up to 2 years | Report how many people read each piece and how they arrived, using truncated identifiers only. |
| Behavioural advertising | Never | We do not sell advertising space and therefore set no cookies for that purpose. |
Third-Party Resources
A small number of resources are loaded from reputable content delivery networks — the web fonts and the layout framework used to render these pages. Those providers can see the request your browser makes for the file, including its IP address, as is inherent to how the web works. They do not receive your name, email address or reading history from us.
Managing and Withdrawing Consent
Consent is revocable at any moment, through our own preference panel or your browser's controls.
Look under Settings → Privacy and Security in Chromium-based browsers, Settings → Privacy and Security in Firefox, or Preferences → Privacy in Safari. From there you may remove existing cookies, refuse future ones, or configure per-site exceptions.
If you clear everything, expect the consent banner to return, since the record of your earlier answer lives in a cookie itself. Turning off strictly necessary cookies will interfere with normal operation.
Changes to This Cookie Policy
We update this page whenever a cookie is added, removed or repurposed. The effective date above marks the current version, and material changes are reflected in the consent banner so that you can review your choices.
